Blood drives slated July 11-12 in Enid

ENID, Okla. — Blood donors this summer can save when they donate with Oklahoma Blood Institute, but they’ll also get two tickets to the Oklahoma City Zoo and “Feel Cool” T-shirts.

Each week, one donor also will win $107.10 in gas from KNID.

Donors must be at least 16 years old.

Two blood drives are scheduled in Enid in the coming days. They are:

• July 11, 2-5 p.m. at Northcutt Chevrolet.

• July 12, 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Cedar Ridge Wesleyan Church.

All blood types are needed, but OBI officials said people with O-negative type blood especially are encouraged to donate. Although it is present in only 9 percent of the U.S. population, O-negative can be used by anyone in an emergency situation, according to the American Association of Blood Banks. Appointments are not required but can be made by calling (877) 340-8777 or going to www.obi.org.
