ENID, Okla. —
A flood warning has been issued through Saturday morning for parts of northwest Oklahoma along the Cimarron River, according to the National Weather Service.
The river continues to rise due to recent rainfall and is expected to crest near 7.5 feet by early afternoon Thursday, July 3, 2014. Flood stage is 6 feet. Officials say minor flooding is occurring but severe spread of water is not expected.
Weather officials say the river will fall back below flood stage by Saturday morning.
Areas in danger of flooding stretch from the Oklahoma-Kansas state line along the banks of the river into middle Major County, according to the NWS.
Cattle and property close to the river and flood zone should be relocated.
