ENID, Okla. —
Members of the Enid Public Schools Board of Education will take up a laundry list of routine contracts and square away a slate of hirings for the coming school year when they meet in regular session at 6 tonight at the central office.
Karl White, 2013 District No. 3 Assistant Superintendent/Central Office Administrator of the Year; David McCune, 2013 Oklahoma Special Services Director of the Year; and Eddie Lou Strimple, 2013 Oklahoma Teacher of the Year Finalist, will be recognized for their achievements at the start of the meeting.
The board will see to a number of routine fund encumbrances and then turn their attention to numerous contracts for services during the upcoming school year.
The contracts to be considered include Alvarado Quality Services LLC for lawn mowing and trimming district properties; Barlow Education Management Services LLC for employee relations, collective bargaining and administrative consultation services; Cooperative Council of Oklahoma School Administration for legal consultation, document review and specialized legal training services provided through CCOSA staff counsel; Enid Counseling and Diagnostic Center Inc. for individual, group and family counseling services and psychological and educational evaluation services for Enid Public School student referrals; Hedges Regional Speech and Hearing Center for speech/language evaluations and therapy services provided to Enid Public School students; Kellogg & Sovereign Consulting Inc. for professional E-Rate management services; Metcalf Land and Lawn LLC for fertilizer and weed control services for school properties; Oklahoma Employment Services at Northern Oklahoma Resource Center of Enid for recycling and confidential document shredding services; Michelle Powell for certified occupational therapy assistant services as a private contractor; Providence Working Canines for contraband detection and deterrence services on school campuses; city of Enid for collection and removal of refuse, trash, garbage and waste materials from Enid Public School sites; TRC Disaster Solution for guaranteed emergency response services to Enid Public Schools; Deborah Trout for orientation and mobility services for Enid Public School visually impaired students; and Youth and Family Services for professional counseling services as requested by the district.
Board members will consider renewing annual agreements with Great Plains Coca-Cola Bottling Company and Copiers Plus/De Lage Landen Financial Services.
Next, board members will consider rental agreements with The Commons for 4-year-old classroom space; Greenbrier Nursing Home for 4-year-old classroom space; and Denny Price Family YMCA for use of their swimming pool by Enid High School swimming team.
Two change orders to the school district’s contract with the Mages Group for renovations and additions to Waller Middle School will be considered:
• The first deducts $8,385 from the price of tiling and adds drywall in the art room, acoustical ceiling in office areas and wall base in the commons area, for a net reduction in cost of $5,831 from the overall cost.
• The second change order adds $21,865 to the cost of the contract for changes to the HVAC and fire alarm system.
• Additionally, the engineering firm, Flynt and Kallenberger, Inc., whose errors led to an increase in the number of air handling units needed for adequate circulation, has submitted a letter to the school board agreeing to reimburse $28,445.
The board will appoint district financial officials for the 2013-14 school year and hold an executive session for the purpose of personnel matters.
