Woman dies, couple injured in collision

ENID, Okla. — A Waurika woman died Monday and an Enid couple were injured in a two-vehicle collision in Stephens County, according to Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Alma Lindesmith, 66, died at the scene of the 6:33 p.m. Monday collision on U.S. 81, about two-tenths of a mile south of Comanche. Lindesmith was not wearing a seat belt, according to OHP.

James Faubion, 59, of Enid, was taken to Duncan Regional Hospital and was admitted with a critical head injury. His passenger, Elouise Pearl Faubion, 51, also of Enid, also was taken to Duncan Regional Hospital. She was treated and released. Both Faubions were wearing seat belts.

According to an OHP report, Lindesmith was southbound on U.S. 81 in a 2002 Kia Sedona and James Faubion was driving a 2000 Chevy Suburban northbound on the highway.

Lindesmith struck a deer in the roadway and left the road to the west, overcorrected, re-entered the roadway, crossed the centerline and struck James Faubion’s vehicle, according to the report.

Lindesmith was ejected out the rear passenger side window and was pinned beneath her vehicle for about an hour, awaiting the medical examiner’s arrival, according to the report.
