Individual donors, businesses contributed $3.4 million to assist capital improvements

ENID, Okla. — In February 2010, the public voted to approve a $99 million bond issue for renovation and construction of new schools in Enid.

In addition, nine businesses and individuals contributed $3.4 million to assist with the capital improvements, the state’s largest private contribution to a kindergarten-12th-grade school system.

Donors included Continental Resources, $1.5 million; Advance Food Company, $1 million; Groendyke Transport, $250,000; Atwoods, $200,000; Lew and Myra Ward, $125,000; Security National Bank, $100,000; the Dillingham family, $100,000; Parrish Enterprises Ltd., $100,000; and Northcutt Auto Group, $25,000.

Improvements originally planned were:

• Adams Elementary — new cafeteria, sidewalks, brick repair, woodwork, stage curtains, water fountains, fire alarm, electrical upgrade, heat and air improvements, downspouts and painting.

• Coolidge Elementary — connecting hallway, restrooms, enclose corridor, roofing, painting, blinds, ceilings, flooring, fire alarm, hardware and doors, lighting, heat and air improvements, sidewalks, stage curtains, electrical upgrades.

• Eisenhower Elementary — flooring, paint gym, exterior doors to gym, toilet fixtures in early childhood and gym, stage curtains, classroom locks, heat and air improvements, electrical upgrade, drainage work.

• Garfield Elementary — replace with new 74,000-square-foot school.

• Glenwood Elementary — restrooms, Americans with Disability Act needs, ceilings, flooring, painting, Red Schoolhouse repairs, repave parking and play areas, sidewalk upgrades, drainage work, classroom storage, exterior doors and hardware, windows, lighting, electrical upgrade, fire alarm, stage curtains, heat and air improvements.

• Hayes Elementary — ceiling tiles, moisture protection, doors and hardware, flooring, painting, classroom sinks and countertops, lighting, exterior doors, blinds, windows, resurface play area, electrical upgrade, heat and air improvements, stage curtains.

• Hoover Elementary — restrooms, ADA needs, flooring, doors, fence for playground, repave east parking lot, classroom sink replacement, clean brick, pre-kindergarten cubby shelf, windows, ceiling tiles, library bookshelves, lighting, painting, stage curtains, heat and air improvements, fire alarm, electrical upgrade.

• McKinley Elementary — drainage work, flooring, painting, lighting, resurface play area, doors and locks, sidewalk repairs, exterior doors, stage curtains, ceilings, fire alarm, heat and air improvements, electrical upgrade.

• Monroe Elementary — repair parking lot, drainage work, new fence, clean brick, windows, doors and hardware, flooring, painting, heat and air improvements, lighting, restrooms, exterior doors, sidewalks, crack repair, heat and air improvements, blinds, classroom sink replacement, electrical upgrade, stage curtains.

• Taft Elementary — restrooms, sidewalks, roofing, heat and air improvements, lighting, stage curtains, painting, flooring, roofing, doors and hardware, ADA needs, windows, ceilings, classroom sink replacement, blinds, electrical upgrade.

• Emerson Elementary — restrooms, ADA needs, parking, roofing, flooring, repave basketball court, exterior doors, ceilings, painting, heat and air improvements, lighting, water fountains, gym flooring, auditorium seating, science lab improvements, electrical upgrade, fire alarm, stage curtains, sidewalks.

• Longfellow Middle School — restrooms, windows, drainage work, roofing, doors and hardware, asphalt and concrete paving, renovate science classrooms, flooring, lockers, signs, auditorium seating, stage curtains, blinds, plumbing, heat and air improvements, casework for library and art classroom, ADA needs, lighting, bleachers, marker boards, ceilings, fire alarms, electrical upgrade, repair exterior steps.

• Waller Middle School — new classroom wing to replace portables, ADA needs, doors and hardware, flooring, windows, heat and air improvements, restrooms, lighting, ceilings, lockers, repave front parking lot, sidewalks, remove paneling, science lab improvements, electrical upgrade, stage curtains, fire alarm.

• Enid High — restrooms, repave parking lot, sidewalks, drainage work, heat and air improvements, science room renovations, auditorium renovations, doors, painting, lockers, cabinetry, stage curtains, library improvements, flooring, exterior step replacement, brick repair, track improvements.

• Lincoln — restrooms, sidewalks, repave parking, concrete entrance, marker boards, heat and air improvements, painting, canopy to gym, doors, flooring, waterproofing, electrical upgrade, fire alarm.

• Carver — east entrance canopy, doors and hardware, ADA restrooms and fixtures, blinds, windows, flooring, painting, clean brick, fire alarm.

• New construction and additions — new elementary school to accommodate growth on Enid’s west side, new Garfield Elementary School to accommodate growth on Enid’s east side, connecting hallway at Coolidge Elementary School, classroom wing at Waller Middle School, cafeteria at Adams Elementary School.

• Athletics — Selby Stadium press box, restrooms, fencing, concrete repairs, grandstands, bleachers, turf.

• Music Education — instrument replacement.
