Tax reports for Enid up in May

ENID, Okla. — After three months of year-over-year declines in distributions and net taxable sales, the city of Enid received a report in May amounting to increases in both, when compared to May 2013.

According to Oklahoma Tax Commission figures, net taxable sales were up $3,328,885, or 4.9 percent, when compared to May 2013.

The city of Enid received $2,486,873 in May for sales occurring in late-March and estimated sales for early April. Sales were up $116,511 from May 2013.

While city revenues were down year over year for several months, Assistant City Manager Joan Riley said, for the fiscal year to date, revenues are 3.9 percent higher than during the same period of 2013.  

OTC reports for other communities in northwest Oklahoma mostly showed increases when comparing revenue year over year.

In Kingfisher, the Kingfisher County seat, there was a 12.7 percent increase in distributions received in May, when compared to the same period next year. There was a $734,514 increase in net taxable sales in the community.

Reports for Watonga, in Blaine County, show a 4.8 percent increase over May 2013. Net taxable sales were up $173,085.

Alva, in Woods County, had a .5 percent increase and an increase of $7,400 in net taxable sales.

In Woodward, located in Woodward County, there was a 19.1 percent increase compared to the same period last year. Net taxable sales were up $5,940,685.

Fairview, the Major County seat, had a 3 percent increase and a $4,789 increase in net taxable sales.

Meanwhile, two northwest Oklahoma communities experienced decreases year over year.

Reports for Medford, in Grant County, showed distributions were down 50 percent from a year ago. Net taxable sales were down $1,282,657. Cherokee, in Alfalfa County, had a 52 percent decrease and a decrease of $225,640 in net taxable sales.
