Pioneer Area Quilt Guild will meet Monday at St. Paul’s Methodist Church, 1904 North Pecan in Ponca City, to conduct its annual Quilt Retreat to make charity quilts. Bring your sewing machine, or just your talents, as there will be work for everyone.
The retreat will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Lunch will be provided by the Board at noon. Menu includes chili and vegetable soup with corn bread and homemade wheat bread. Desserts will be provided by the January Hostesses, Sandy Hudack, Shirley Hile and Velva Hoyt.
Cheryl Pritchett and Patsy Williams will provide games. Cheryl Pritchett will demonstrate how to make a pincushion, table runner and play a fat-quarter game.
The guild’s quilts will benefit Living Hope, Quilts of Valor, Love Quilts and/or Domestic Violence. This will allow members to choose which organization they would like to donate to — or, donate to all of them. Maximum suggested size is about 45 inches by 56 inches.
There will be people available to help carry in machines and supplies. There is a lot that can be accomplished without a machine, so not everyone has to bring one.
If there is inclement weather, the guild will meet unless Ponca City schools are closed.
The Pioneer Area Quilt Guild meets the first Monday of each month and guests are always welcome. You may contact Sue Roy at (580) 362-3860 or Jacque Bufton at (580) 762-7142 for more information.
