ENID, Okla. —
An electrical problem affecting Hobby Lobby might take several days to fix, but power to the store might be restored before then.
John Little, OG&E Electric Services community relations manager, said an underground power line failed at about 10:30 a.m. Friday. The line runs from a transformer underneath a parking lot and into the Hobby Lobby building.
“It would have been fairly expeditious to get it pulled out and replaced with new cable,” Little said. “However, when our guys started doing that, the cable broke.”
Line workers are working to locate the break. When they find it, they’ll likely have to use a backhoe to break through the parking lot and reach the conduit, Little said.
That process could take a couple of days to complete, he said. The store might be able to reopen sooner if the utility can get a temporary fix here from Oklahoma City.
The cause of the initial power line failure remains unknown. Little also isn’t sure why the line broke.
“Anything that’s built will eventually deteriorate,” he said.
A call to the store went unanswered, and the doors were locked Friday afternoon.
