Chick-fil-A’s new stand-alone restaurant construction to begin Monday

Construction will begin Monday on the long-awaited, stand-alone Chick-fil-A restaurant at Oakwood Mall.

Chick-fil-A closed on the deal Friday, said Connie Sturgeon-Hart, owner-operator.

“I’m ecstatic,” Sturgeon-Hart said. “It’s been four years in the waiting.”

The new restaurant will be at Carson and Garriott, east of Jackson’s of Enid and west of My Dentist, she said, on the northwest corner of the mall property.

It will include a double drive-through and an inside playground.

“We’re a drive-through society,” Sturgeon-Hart said. “We’ve just outgrown our location.”

Chick-fil-A has been inside Oakwood Mall for many years.

Metropolitan Area Planning Commission had approved the site plan in late-January. The site plan, prepared and submitted by Burger Engineering of Dallas, specifies a 4,700-square-foot, 162-seat restaurant on almost 1.7 acres of land with 60 parking spaces.

Sturgeon-Hart, who has been with Chick-fil-A for 26 years, said she did not have a timetable for when construction will be completed, other than to say “probably before Christmas.”
