Woman dies after accident

ENID, Okla. — An Enid woman died of injuries she suffered when her car was struck by a truck at the intersection of 10th and Garriott.

Enid Police Department Sgt. Justin Hodges said Janet Knight, 64, was driving a 2000 Dodge Neon southbound on 10th late Sunday morning when her car was hit on the driver’s side by a 2000 Peterbilt truck driven by Russell Butler, 48, of El Dorado, Kan., who was headed west on Garriott.

Hodges said Knight was taken to St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

Keygan Knight, 2, a passenger in the car, was transported to St. Mary’s and then transported to Children’s Hospital at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City with leg and head injuries, Hodges said. Hospital officials said Keygan was in critical condition Monday afternoon. Keygan was properly restrained in a child car seat in the back seat of the car when the accident occurred, Hodges said.

Hodges said the accident remains under investigation and no citations have been issued.
