Covington-Douglas hosting dinner, auction for Melvin Kimmell

ENID, Okla. — On Saturday, a benefit dinner and auction will be held for Melvin Kimmell at the Covington-Douglas Memorial Gym, with donations going to help with medical expenses.

Dinner is 5-7, followed by an auction at 7.

Menu will include pulled pork, smoked chicken and smoked brisket, sides and dessert.

Cost is by donation, with matching funds provided by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.


The town of Covington’s yearly town-wide clean-up day will be on a regular trash day May 27.


Memorial wreaths and flowers are for sale at the Tri County Senior Center.


May 5: Pre-K and 2nd grade field trip to Leonardo’s in Enid.

May 6: Elementary track meet; Pre-K enrollment is 8:30-10 a.m.; FFA Banquet is 6:30 p.m.

May 7: 1st-5th grade AR trip.

May 9-10: High school track at state.

May 12: Glow Run; 6th-12th grade trip.

May 13: All Sports Banquet.

May 14: 6th-12th grade awards assembly at 1 p.m.

May 15: 8th grade graduation.

May 16: Last day of school.

May 17: High school senior graduation.


The Covington-Douglas Lady Wildcats slow pitch softball team won the district tournament at Shidler, playing Shidler, Coyle, Copan and winning all their games.

Sarah Smith was the winning pitcher. Mike Kaiser is the softball coach.

On Thursday, the Lady Wildcats played in Regional Tournament at Arapaho, with Leedey, Arapaho, Bowleys and Covington-Douglas participating.쇓
