Lt. Col. Russell A. Hayes announces his retirement after 22 years in the Air Force

ENID, Okla. — Air Force Lt. Col. Russell A. Hayes, an Enid native, is retiring from the service July 31, ending a 22-year active-duty career.

He is the son of Ramon and Sandra Hayes of Enid and a 1987 Enid High School graduate. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in management information systems from Oklahoma State University in 1992 and has been married for 22 years to Shannon Leigh Hayes. The couple has a 17-year-old son, Luke.

Hayes’ career includes assignments in Colorado, Washington, D.C, Texas, Alabama, Illinois and Germany. He has supported Operation Enduring Freedom from Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Afghanistan.

Currently, Hayes is deputy director of network architecture at the Air Force Network Integration Center at Scott Air Force Base, Ill.

Hayes will be honored May 12 with a retirement ceremony.
