Enid Greater Chamber of Commerce will host ChamberMarket meeting

ENID, Okla. — Greater Enid Chamber of Commerce will host an informational meeting on ChamberMarket, State Chamber of Oklahoma’s alternative to public health insurance, on May 9.

The workshop is targeted at area employers who are looking to comply with the requirements of the Affordable Care Act.

“The state chamber just launched this program about a month ago,” said Jon Blankenship, president and CEO of Greater Enid Chamber of Commerce.

Jonathan Buxton, vice president of policy development and government affairs for State Chamber of Oklahoma, will share information about the program.

“It’s a private health insurance exchange being offered through the state chamber of commerce,” Blankenship said. “It’s a way for employers to provide health insurance options to their employees while still controlling costs.”

Blankenship said employers can determine what percent of the insurance cost they’ll pay, but the insurance is designed to comply with the Affordable Care Act.

ChamberMarket allows employees to select high quality, affordable health insurance plans and access to ancillary plans such as dental care or vision care, Blankenship said.

“This is one option we want businesses to be exposed to,” Blankenship said.

Most businesses want to offer insurance and good benefits to their employees, and 90 percent of people with health insurance have have it through their employers, Blankenship said.

“I think it’s important for people to have awareness of their options,” Blankenship said.

The workshop will be at 8 a.m. May 9 in the lectorium at Autry Technology Center.

There is no charge to attend.

The chamber is asking attendees to make a reservation by calling (580) 237-2494.
