The Covington-Douglas Band Concert will be 6 p.m. Tuesday in the old gym for grades 5-12. Katlin Wicker is Covington-Douglas Band Director.
On Monday, the junior high and high school track relays will be held on the home track.
April 27 is the high school regional track meet.
On April 29, the fifth- and sixth-grade track teams will travel to Ringwood for a meet.
The State FFA Convention will be April 30-May 1 in Oklahoma City. Officers and some members of the Covington-Douglas FFA will attend.
The Covington Historical Society met April 9 at the Tri County Senior Center. The meeting began with a reading of the new by-laws that were drawn up and all officers were to sign. A rubber stamp for the historical society was purchased to stamp labels for donated items.
The botanical gardens has been turned over to the historical society, a nonprofit organization. The society is trying to get a cover for the building. Gerald and Ted Pope are going to clean out the flower beds. There still are several beautiful cacti in the gardens, and most will be saved.
A vote by accumulation was made to retain officers until October, when an election of officers will be held. Pat Schweer has an 1800s doll she will donate to sell chances on for the historical society. Next meeting will be 10 am. May 7 at Tri County Senior Center.
The 5th Sunday Sing was held April 7 at the First Baptist Church. Those singing specials included: Baptist Trio, George Kegin, Lucien United Methodist trio, Boyd Cline, Mike Bolz, Lucien United Methodist Choir, Christopher Buie, Robyn Buie, Donna Beckner and Sherry Ashley, and Carol Kegin.
The next 5th Sunday Sing will be June 30 at Covington United Methodist Church.
