Held man charged with damaging Garfield County Detention Facility

ENID, Okla. — An Enid man being held on a charge of being an accessory to an Oklahoma City murder has been charged with damaging Garfield County Detention Facility.

Ivan Alexander Williamson, 21, was charged Thursday with a felony count of injury or destruction of a public building, which is punishable by up to 25 years in prison.

The charge stems from a Jan. 16 incident at the jail, when Williamson attempted to sharpen a pencil on a sprinkler head in his cell, breaking the sprinkler and causing it to spray water into his cell.

According to an affidavit filed in the case, Williamson told a deputy he was upset about his bond and charges. He said he threw a shampoo bottle at the sprinkler and thought it would be sharp enough to sharpen his pencil. When he attempted to sharpen his pencil, the sprinkler broke.

Williamson also is charged as an accessory after the fact in an Oct. 20, 2012, murder. The gun used to kill Michael Donnell Rhodes, 42, in Oklahoma City last year is the same weapon used in the Dec. 22, 2012, shooting death of Heath Crites in Enid, forensic testing showed.

Williamson had been contacted by another man, who was asked to move two guns by Ronnie Fuston, who has been charged with murder in the deaths of Crites and Rhodes.

Williamson led an Enid Police Department detective to one of the guns, but denied any knowledge of a second weapon to police, according to an affidavit filed in the case.

A check of Williamson’s Facebook account showed he had sent private messages to another man about selling two guns, and he admitted to selling the second gun after his arrest, according to the affidavit.

Court records show Williamson’s bond was lowered, over the state’s objection, to $50,000 from $250,000 on the charge of accessory after the fact. Williamson’s bond on the newest charge is a recognizance bond with a $50,000 penal sum. He is set for a bond appearance April 8.Ї
