ENID, Okla. — A 23-year-old Enid man is free on $75,000 bond after being charged with possession of child pornography and soliciting sexual communication with a minor.

Thomas Carl Chattam Jr. appeared Thursday before Special District Judge Brian Lovell on the felony charges.

He faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $25,000 on the possession charge and up to 10 years imprisonment and/or a fine of up to $10,000 on the soliciting charge.

Chattam was arrested last week by Sgt. Dustin Albright after Enid Police Department was contacted by police in Indiana.

According to an affidavit filed in the case, Evansville Police Department emailed Albright Nov. 7 in reference to a report taken from a 17-year-old girl Aug. 26

The teen’s mother discovered her daughter had been sending and receiving sexually explicit text messages with a man she knew as Chattam, and with an 580 area code phone number.

The teen told Evansville police Chattam had requested “sexy” pictures from her, according to the affidavit. She said she sent a photo to Chattam and he sent her several pictures of his penis, according to the affidavit.

An Evansville Police Department detective assumed the teen’s identity, using the cellphone, and Chattam sent him a picture of his penis Sept. 18, believing he was communicating with the 17-year-old girl, according to the affidavit.

Albright spoke with Chattam Nov. 8 at his residence.

Chattam admitted to Albright he had been sending sexually explicit text messages to a girl in Indiana, who he believed was 17 years old, according to the affidavit. He said he sent her pictures of his penis and she had sent nude photos of herself to him, according to the affidavit.

Albright seized Chattam’s phone and several micro SD cards, and searched the device and media for messages and pictures Nov. 8 and 14.

Albright found explicit messages Chattam sent the teen between July 11 and  Aug. 17, according to the affidavit.
