ELMWOOD, Okla. —
A Woodward man was killed Tuesday afternoon in a one-vehicle accident in Beaver County.
Jose Angel Martinez, 21, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report. Another man, Dale Leo Miller II, 28, of Woodward, is listed in poor condition at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kan., according to the report. Miller suffered head, arm, leg and trunk injuries.
The accident happened at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday on U.S. 270 about five miles east of Elmwood.
According to the report, Miller was driving a 2008 Dodge pickup west on U.S. 270 when the vehicle left the road and hit a guardrail. The pickup then vaulted into the air and into a deep ravine. After hitting the ground, it rolled once and came to rest on its top, according to the report.
Neither man was wearing a seat belt, according to the report, and Martinez was partially ejected. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
