With the start of Leonardo’s new fiscal year Tuesday, memberships and admissions will increase slightly.
It is the first time since 2007 family memberships have increased, and admissions were last increased in 2008.
“It is always a very difficult decision for our board of directors to raise rates on anything, but they really had no choice,” said Julie Baird, executive director. “Our cost on everything, from building supplies, services and utilities, has risen significantly in the last six years, and in some cases, it has even doubled.”
Admission rates will increase $1 per person, up from $7 to $8 for all-day admission for both Leonardo’s and Adventure Quest. Group admissions, senior admissions and half-price admissions all will slightly increase.
“Of course, any increase in admissions makes a family or grandparent membership an even better value,” Baird said. “Now, there are several options available, depending on the number of people in your family, where before, it was only for up to five people.”
New family/grandparent membership options include Basic Family (for up to four people, including two adults); Family/Grandparent Plus (six people, including three adults); and Family/Grandparent Deluxe (eight people, including four adults). All people must be listed on the membership form, and Leonardo’s memberships are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Extra add-on options for membership levels include Plus One and Oklahoma Museum Network. A Plus One doesn’t have to be named, can change from visit to visit, and can include such people as baby sitter, grandparent or friend. Oklahoma Museum Network allows free visits to partner museums for up to five people for a full year. The partner museums are Jasmine Moran Children’s Museum in Seminole; Science Museum Oklahoma in Oklahoma City, Tulsa Children’s Museum in Tulsa and Museum of the Great Plains in Lawton.
Leonardo’s will continue to offer free and reduced family memberships to low-income families, provided they can demonstrate need.
“We want the museum to be accessible for all children in Enid, and that is why we actively seek donations year round for membership scholarships,” Baird said.
