Community health forum set for Friday

ENID, Okla. — Several officials of Oklahoma Health Care Authority will be in Enid Friday for a community forum open to anyone who wishes to learn more or ask questions.

The forum is a joint project of Rural Health Projects and OHCA. It’s an opportunity to learn about area grant projects, SoonerCare benefits and eligibility, school-based health services, durable medical equipment, claims and billing, and prior authorization.

The forum will be 12:30-2:30 p.m. at Northwest Oklahoma State University board room, 2929 E. Randolph.

According to Melinda Snowden, community relations coordinator for the child health unit of OHCA, each official will make a brief presentation about themselves and their programs, then the public can ask questions.

“Community forums are relatively new to OHCA, and … are being put together regionally around Oklahoma,” Snowden said. “This Enid forum is open to any resident of Oklahoma to attend, but the specific target region is Garfield, Grant, Kay, Noble, Alfalfa, Major, and Kingfisher counties.”

OHCA representatives who will be present include Nico Gomez, chief executive officer; Stan Ruffner, durable medical equipment program director who will talk about the equipment reuse program; Yvonne Stuart, outreach field representative for Insure Oklahoma; Lori Kann, manager of member services; Sasha Bradley, marketing coordinator; Nelson Solomon, public information specialist; Dr. Leon Bragg, chief dental officer; Renee Davis, senior exceptional needs coordinator for the care management division; Tywanda Cox, health policy director; Dana Miller, tribal relations director for the Indian health unit; Sue Robertson, program manager for the child health unit; Ed Long, program manager for governmental affairs; and Snowden.

The forum is free, but people wanting to attend are asked to reserve a seat by phoning Snowden at (580) 213-3173 or sending her an email at
