Applications are being accepted for young women and children interested in becoming the new Czech queen, junior queen, prince or princess.
Czech Royalty Pageant will be Sept. 29 at the historical Yukon Czech Hall. The pageant is an honorary tradition of Oklahoma Czech Festival, which is celebrated annually on the first Saturday of October and attracts more than 50,000 visitors.
Newly crowned royalty will receive gifts and make public appearances across the state as they promote their heritage.
Additionally, the 2013-14 Oklahoma Czech queen will receive a $1,000 scholarship and have the opportunity to compete for the national Czech queen title.
Contestants must be of Czech/Slovak heritage and willing to represent Oklahoma Czechs Inc. as official Czech royalty. Eligible women for the queen contest must be 16-26 years old, and junior queen competitors must be 12-15 years old. Children ages 5-9 are eligible for the prince and princess titles.
