Alva man in hospital after 2-truck accident

ENID — An Alva man was hospitalized Thursday after he injured in a two-vehicle accident in Woods County.

Matthew Scot Byers, 24, was admitted to Share Medical Center in Alva in good condition with head, trunk, arm and leg injuries, according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report.

The accident happened at 12:47 p.m. Thursday on U.S. 64 seven and one-half miles west of Alva.

According to the report, Byers was driving a 2002 GMC Sonoma pickup east on U.S. 64 when he crossed the center line and hit a 1998 Dodge 3500 pickup driven by Tammy Dawn Munsell, 38, of Woodward.

Munsell and her passenger, Rusty Shane Munsell, of Woodward, were treated at Share Medical Center and released.

The cause of the accident was listed as “distraction inside vehicle.” Both drivers were wearing seat belts, but Rusty Munsell was not.

The highway was closed for nearly two hours after the accident.
