The filing period for election to school boards in Garfield County is Monday through Wednesday.
Enid Public Schools has three school board seats up for election in February.
These are Office 1, currently occupied by Cheryl Patterson; Office 3, currently occupied by Ernie Currier; and Office 6, currently occupied by Kyle Whitehead. All are four-year terms.
Whitehead was appointed a month ago to fill the unexpired term of Colleen Arnold. He plans to file for election to the seat.
Currier was appointed in March to fill the unexpired term of Alan Seibel. He is vice president for commercial lending at Security National Bank and a former Enid city commissioner and mayor. He also has served on Autry Technology Center Foundation Board, Oklahoma Baptist University Board of Trustees and Northwestern Oklahoma State University Northern Oklahoma College Advisory Board.
Currier plans to file for election.
“I didn’t go in with expectations, but since I’ve been on there I’ve learned a lot and enjoyed the opportunity immensely,” Currier said.
Patterson was elected to fill an unexpired term in 2010. She likewise plans to file for re-election.
Autry Technology Center also has a seat on its board up for election. The Zone 1 seat, currently occupied by Les Clickner, has a five-year term. Clickner plans to file for re-election.
Waukomis, Pioneer-Pleasant Vale, Kremlin-Hillsdale, Covington-Douglas, Chisholm, Garber and Drummond also have the Office 3 of their school boards up for election. All are five-year terms.
Drummond Public Schools’ Office 3 currently is occupied by Carrie Dobrovolny. She does not plan to run for re-election.
Additionally, two seats on the Billings Public Schools and one seat on the Cimarron Public Schools boards will be voted on by those Garfield County residents in those districts.
The filing period opens at 8 a.m. Monday and closes at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
