Driving across 2 lawns, man arrested for DUI

ENID, Okla. — An Enid man was arrested Wednesday afternoon on a complaint of driving under the influence, after driving across the lawns of two homes and becoming stuck in the second.

Brett J. Lucas, 59, was arrested after driving across the lawns at 2909 and 2913 Franklin.

Sgt. Quent Tubbs, who lives nearby, saw Lucas slowly drive by northbound on Franklin about 12:14 p.m., with the windows of his Toyota minivan rolled down.

While scraping ice from the windows of his Enid Police Department vehicle, Tubbs heard tires squealing and saw the van stuck in a neighbor’s front yard. Tubbs spoke with the driver and could smell an odor of alcohol, according to an Enid Police Department report.

Officers Tommy Davis, Andy Morris and Casey Von Schriltz were called to the scene. Lucas failed a field sobriety test, according to the report, and was placed under arrest, which he resisted. A search of his vehicle found three gallon bottles of vodka, two opened, according to the report.

Lucas refused to take the state’s breath test and was booked on complaints of driving under the influence, transporting an open container and resisting arrest.
