ENID, Okla. — Nash Volunteer Firefighters to host

Ground Hog Supper on Feb. 2

Nash Volunteer Firefighter’s Association will hold its annual Ground Hog Supper 4:30-7 p.m. Feb. 2 at the fire station.

The annual fundraising supper is held each year to help the fire department raise money to purchase equipment and to help with operating expenses.

The meal includes scrambled eggs, Blue & Gold sausage, biscuits and gravy.

The department currently has two pumper trucks, three brush trucks, a tanker and a heavy rescue vehicle that is equipped with a full compliment of rescue equipment.

All of the fire department’s vehicles and equipment will be on display the night of the supper.

There are 20 members on the Nash Fire Department.

Included in this number are those who are firefighter I and II certified, first responders, emergency medical technicians (EMT), HAZMAT techs, critical incident stress management team members and certified fire service instructors.

The Nash Fire Department responds to calls throughout Grant, Alfalfa and Garfield counties and has sent teams to major disasters throughout the states of Oklahoma and Kansas.

Sons and Daughters of Liberty

to meet tonight at the YWCA

The Sons and Daughters of Liberty will hold its January meeting at 7 p.m. today at the YWCA.

All the candidates for Enid City Commission have been invited to make short presentations, and the main speaker will be Garfield County District Attorney Mike Fields.

Fields will be explaining how the grand jury system works. He also will tell how he sees his job as the chief law enforcement officer in the county, plus the other counties under his jurisdiction.

Church hosts parenting classes

Christian Church of the Covenant (Disciples of Christ) will host parenting classes each Sunday during the month of February.

Feb. 10, the class is “100 ways for your child to succeed”; Feb. 17, “How to talk with your child about sex”; and Feb. 24, “How to talk with your child about death.”

The Rev. Patrick Sutherlin will lead the Feb. 10 ad Feb. 24 sessions, with Janet Cordell leading the Feb. 17 session.

The sessions are free and childcare is provided. For more information about these classes or to RSVP for childcare, call 237-0894.
