Jackson joins state bar association board

Enid attorney Douglas L. Jackson was among 10 attorneys sworn into the Oklahoma Bar Association Board of Governors Friday.

Jackson will serve a three-year term as board member representing Supreme Court Judicial District Four, which includes 17 counties in northwest Oklahoma.

Other officers sworn in Friday were Shawnee attorney Jim Stuart, president; Tulsa lawyer Renée DeMoss, president-elect; and Lawton attorney Dietmar Caudle, Lawton.

Jackson has been in private practice in Enid since 1981. He is a shareholder and managing director of Gungoll, Jackson, Collins, Box & Devoll, P.C. His main areas of practice are civil litigation, banking law and cooperative law. He is a member of the Oklahoma Bar Foundation and has served as president of the Garfield County Bar Association.

He is a director of Central National Bank & Trust Company of Enid, commissioner of the Enid Fire Department Civil Service Commission and serves on the Board of Directors of the Federated Church. He also is past president of Oakwood Country Club and past general superintendent of Northwest District Livestock Show. He and his wife, Beth, have three daughters and two sons.

Other OBA Board of Governors members who were sworn in for three-year terms are Sandee Coogan, Norman; Robert D. Gifford II, Oklahoma City; and Richard Stevens, Norman.

Robert S. Farris, of Tulsa, will take the oath of office to fill the unexpired term of board member-at-large Renée DeMoss after her election as president-elect. Last year’s OBA President Cathy Christensen, of Oklahoma City, and OBA Young Lawyers Division Chairperson Joe Vorndran, of Shawnee, each took the oath of office to serve on the board for one year.

The 17,000-member Oklahoma Bar Association, headquartered in Oklahoma City, was created by the Oklahoma Supreme Court to advance the administration of justice and to foster and maintain learning, integrity, competence, public service and high standards of conduct among Oklahoma’s legal community.
