New Jets’ logo to be unveiled

ENID, Okla. — The Northern Oklahoma College Enid Jets will soar into the future with a new logo, to be unveiled Tuesday at a public ceremony.

The new athletic brand is the next step in the rebranding of Northern Oklahoma College. The college unveiled its own new logo in September.

Bill Johnson, spokesman for NOC, said the fresh identity will create a consistent brand and logo recognized by NOC fans, alumni, students, employees and other supporters around the community and region.

Tuesday’s unveiling celebration will include an 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. come-and-go luncheon in the Gantz Student Center on the NOC Enid campus, with the formal unveiling at 12:15 p.m. Free T-shirts bearing the new identity will be given away while supplies last.

Sheri Snyder, branding committee chairwoman and NOC vice president for development and community relations, said the updated logo will represent NOC uniformly across all athletic programs.

“The college teamed up with Peterson Ray and Co. and began working on the branding project last October,” Johnson said.

NOC students and employees as well as alumni, fans and community members were interviewed and consulted in the process of developing the Jets logo.

Raydon Leaton, athletic director and head baseball coach for NOC Enid, said he was on the committee that worked to develop the athletic logo.

“I’ve seen the logos and I think it makes our athletic department a little more uniform,” Leaton said.

In the past, coaches have created their own designs for the college’s basketball and baseball programs, Leaton said.

“Now when they see a certain logo, they’ll know that’s NOC Enid,” Leaton said.

About 1,050 students attend classes at Enid, said Ed Vineyard, vice president for the Enid campus. Nursing, business administration and social science are the top three programs on the Enid campus.

The NOC Tonkawa Mavericks also got a new logo. That will be unveiled Jan. 22 on the Tonkawa campus.
