HELENA, Okla. —
An 83-year-old Helena man was pronounced dead at the scene of an accident in Alfalfa County Sunday morning.
According to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report, Henry Boyd DeWitt, 83, of Helena, was found dead of an unknown medical condition at the scene.
According to the report, a 1993 Lincoln, driven by DeWitt, was backing out of a private drive onto County Road 630. Due to an unknown medical reason, the driver accelerated. The vehicle crossed the county road, entered a field and continued east through the field, striking a farm structure before coming to rest in a pasture.
Seat belts were equipped but not in use, and airbags did not deploy. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
