ENID, Okla. —
Enid City Commission on Thursday approved change orders for Enid Renaissance Project work, and a resolution to change the budget to pay for parking and sewer changes around Cafe Garcia.
Although the city owns the building, located at the corner of Grand and Oklahoma, that houses the restaurant, Cafe Garcia has a five-year lease that expires in 2016. There is an option to renew the lease, and the city of Enid is making changes in parking and sewer lines to accommodate the future of the restaurant.
During Thursday’s special meeting, commissioners approved a resolution amending the 2012-13 capital improvement fund budget by $282,332 to pay for:
• Sewer relocation — costing $83,142 — due to the decision to keep Cafe Garcia where it is.
• Relocation of the Convention Hall sanitary sewer line, to remove a conflict with the parking lot and future hotel site ($51,023).
• Reconfiguration of the south parking lot and additional grading around Cafe Garcia ($148,167).
The companion change order to Key Construction’s contract to build Enid Event Center provides for revisions to the original plans.
The other change order to Key Construction’s contract deducted $23,994 from the original contract to credit the city of Enid for the cost of failed material testing or retesting.
These were the sixth and seventh change orders for the project. The previous five have totaled $724,404, pushing the contract for Enid Event Center to $18,168,848. The facility is scheduled to be completed May 31, 2013.
