Main Street program officials, volunteers to meet next week for brand training

WOODWARD, Okla. — Main Street program managers, board members and volunteers will gather Tuesday through Thursday in Woodward for training to learn how to brand their local programs.

“One of the hottest topics these days is branding,” said Linda Barnett, director of Oklahoma Main Street. “Main Street managers, as well as other community representatives across the state are interested in branding, but they have questions. What is branding? What sets my program apart from others? How do I do I brand my program and community?

The speakers each will bring a different perspective on this thing called branding — from more traditional approaches to using guerrilla tactics, or low-cost creative methods, to communicate to the target audience and help brand a community. There will be information for everyone.”

Speakers will include Ben Muldrow, a partner at Arnett Muldrow and Associates, a Greenville, S.C.-based urban planning firm; Anthony Tucker, owner of Brand Oklahoma, a social media-based firm in Tulsa; and Sherry Campbell, local business owner and promotions chair for the Collinsville Main Street program.

The training begins at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Woodward Arts Theatre, 818 Main, and concludes at noon Thursday. The training is free and interested people should call Oklahoma Main Street Center at (405) 815-6552 for information and to register.
