Lady Cats softball team wins tourney

The Covington-Douglas Lady Cats slow pitch softball team won the Cimarron Softball Tournament March 29 at Lahoma, winning all their games.

Covington-Douglas played host to the Covington-Douglas Softball Festival on March 14. In the first game, Covington-Douglas won over OBA 11-10, and in the last game, Waukomis won over Covington-Douglas 12-3.


Jessica Parson, Covington-Douglas senior, won an Academic Award. She won out of 64 students. Jessica is a member of the Covington-Douglas Academic Team.


Monday: High school softball vs Okeene at 4 p.m.; junior high softball at Crescent, 4:30 p.m.; junior high baseball vs Morrison, 4:30 p.m.; school board meeting, 7:30 p.m.

Tuesday: High school baseball vs. Medford at 4:30 p.m.; high school track at Ponca City.

Wednesday: Fifth-sixth-grade track at Chisholm.

Thursday: High school baseball at Okeene, 4:30 p.m.; high school softball Best of West Softball Tournament at Weatherford; junior high softball Crescent Tournament at Crescent; junior high baseball Kremlin Tournament Thursday through Saturday.

Saturday: Junior-Senior Prom.


The 5th Sunday Sing was held at the Christian Church on March 29. The next sing will begin at 7 p.m. June 29 at St. John’s Lutheran Church.

A Chicken and Noodle Benefit Dinner for Terrye Metscher will be served 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. today at the Tri County Senior Center on Maine in Covington. A free-will offering will be supplemented by Middle OK Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and will help Terrye with medical expenses. If you are unable to attend, there is an account for Terrye at First Bank and Trust in Covington for donations.
