Senior spelling bee slated

— The Senior Spelling Bee Safari will be 1 p.m. April 19 in the NODA conference room, 2901 North Van Buren.

The Oklahoma City Zoo safari guide and animals from three continents will provide entertainment prior to the spelling bee.

Every year, seniors participate in spelling competitions across the state. Most study in hopes of taking part in the state Senior Spelling Championship to be held May 21 at the Embassy Suites in Norman.

The annual spelling bee is for anyone 60 years old and older. The first- and second-place winners will represent Alfalfa, Blaine, Garfield, Grant, Kay, Kingfisher, Major and Noble counties in the state competition. Prizes will be awarded to the first-, second- and third-place finishers.
