ENID, Okla. —
The A-26 Lady Liberty Sponsor Group of Enid will host a training event Saturday and Sunday at Enid Woodring Regional Airport for members of the Commemorative Air Force seeking certification for flight engineer, crew chief, co-pilot and pilot in command.
Crews from the Invader Squadron at Fort Worth and from the Sierra Hotel group in Guthrie will join the Lady Liberty Group for the training. The Invader Squadron A-26, Texas Special, will join Enid’s Lady Liberty in training flights as pilots and co-pilots log time toward their check ride and sign-off from instructors.
Training flights will take place on Sunday.
Ground school will be Saturday with a special firefighting demonstration at 3 p.m. The public is invited to watch this demonstration as well as the flights on Sunday. The Lady Liberty hangar is located next to the Vietnam Memorial Wall, Woodring Wall of Honor and Veterans Park, and it will be open for visitors all day Sunday.
The Douglas A-26 fast-attack bomber is the only aircraft to see active military service in World War II, Korea and the Vietnam War. The Lady Liberty is the oldest flying A-26 in the country.
