ENID, Okla. —
Effective Thursday, Enid Public Transportation Authority will charge more for same-day ride service.
Rides reserved a day in advance will remain $2 per ride, but rides called for on the same day will be charged $5.
“Making advance reservations helps the Transit to plan ahead for the number of buses and drivers needed each day,” said Mark Anzalone, marketing coordinator for EPTA.
Another change in service is that a personal assistant who accompanies a disabled person on the ride will pay the same fare as the disabled person: $2 for an advance reservation and $5 for a same-day ride.
Effective immediately, the dispatch office is closed on Saturday. All Saturday rides must be reserved in advance.
Community Development Block Grant assistance was approved for bus passes at the Nov. 19 Enid City Commission meeting. Applicants can apply for two- to six-week passes, up to as many as 24 weeks in a year. Applications will be accepted until Sept. 30 or until grant funds are depleted.
Application forms can be downloaded at www.enid.org/transit or requested from the Enid Public Library or area social agencies. The completed form can be returned to the EPTA office. EPTA will not mail out applications.
