WOODWARD, Okla. —
A Woodward teen has drowned at Fort Supply Reservoir.
Johnathan T. Loftis, 18, drowned Tuesday at the lake while swimming with four other people, according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report.
The incident happened at 4:38 p.m. 150 yards north of Coors Island at the lake.
According to the report, Loftis and the others were swimming from a boat ramp to the island. The wind was blowing about 30 mph and the water was choppy. Loftis began to struggle, and two of the others tried to hold him up but couldn’t, according to the report. Loftis went under and did not resurface.
His body eventually was found in 5 feet of water, according to the report.
