Evans Pharmacy teaming up with Hospice Circle of Love to offer flu vaccines

— Evans Pharmacy and Hospice Circle of Love are teaming up to provide flu vaccines for the community.

Clinics will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday from Sept. 18 through Oct. 18 at Evans Pharmacy’s Willow location.

Shots are of no cost to Medicare recipients. All insurance cards will be accepted as well. For those paying cash, the shots are $30.

In addition to the designated clinic times, walk-ins are welcome to receive the vaccine at Evans Pharmacy at any time.

Centers for Disease Control is recommending people get their flu vaccines as soon as the shots become available in their community.

According to CDC, it takes two weeks for the antibodies to build up and provide protection against the virus.

The vaccine will protect against the three strains of the flu experts think will be the most prevalent this year. One of the strains included is for the H1N1 virus.

The shots at Evans Pharmacy will be administered by Hospice Circle of Love staff and volunteers who are registered nurses and by Evans pharmacists who have been certified to administer vaccines.
