A Woodward woman was killed in a two-vehicle accident on U.S. 183 around 4:40 p.m. Thursday. The accident occurred about 20 miles southeast of Woodward.
Dixie Lyn Rocha, 41, died of internal injuries in the accident. She was pronounced dead at Seiling Municipal Hospital. The driver of the second vehicle was not injured.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol said the accident occurred when Rocha, driving a 2004 Chrysler northwestbound on U.S. 183, lost control of her vehicle and went into a broadslide and struck a 2002 Freightliner truck, driven by Mari Alaine Halverson, 45, of St. Paul, Minn., which was traveling southeastbound.
Halverson’s husband, Kevin Lee Halver-son, 47, was a passenger in the semi and also was not injured.
According to the OHP report, Rocha was not wearing a seat belt. The Halversons were wearing seat belts.
The accident forced authorities to close the highway for more than three hours.
