Suspects may have been involved in shootings, burglaries, car thefts

By Cass Rains Staff Writer

Police arrested two juveniles in connection with two shootings that occurred Monday in the 1100 block of North Madison and suspect the 16- and 17-year old also may be involved in recent burglaries and car thefts.

Enid Police Department Capt. Jack Morris said the department used a multi-divisional team consisting of detectives, narcotics and patrol officers to “aggressively work” on four drive-by shootings that occurred over the weekend.

Charges have been filed in all four shootings that occurred late Sunday and early Monday.

“All of the officers worked long hours and relentlessly to find the persons responsible for the shootings,” Morris said. “Our department takes these crimes seriously, and I commend each officer for a job well done.”

Morris said the two juveniles have been arrested on two complaints of discharging a firearm from a moving vehicle. During interrogations, officers found they had participated in “several” car burglaries and thefts in Enid and Garfield County.

“The investigation involving the car burglaries and auto thefts is still pending and charges are expected to be filed at a later date,” Morris said.

Police arrested two women in connection to two shootings Sunday in the 4100 block of LaMesa Drive and 600 block of East Illinois.

Jaimesse Thompson, 19, was arrested on complaints of discharging a weapon from a motor vehicle, throwing an object at a moving vehicle and driving without a driver’s license.

Tamika Johnson, 21, was arrested on complaints of shooting with intent to kill and three unrelated city bench warrants.
