Leonardo’s Discovery Warehouse is offering art classes Saturday free with paid admission. Discovery Saturday, for pre-kindergarten through second grade, will take place 10:30-11:30 a.m. Afternoon Art, for third-sixth grade, is scheduled 1:30-2:30 p.m. Both classes will be taught by staff artist Andy Couch on the topic of still life.
“As an art and science museum for children, our mission is to enrich and inspire children by creating fun learning opportunities,” said Julie Baird, executive director. “The great artist Pablo Picasso said, ‘Every child is an artist. The difficulty is helping him remain one as he grows older.’ Saturday art classes are designed to be fun for the students and support parents and teachers in developing their child’s imagination and creativity,” Baird said.
Discovery Saturday and Afternoon Art classes are available two Saturdays per month at Leonardo’s and are made possible in part by a grant from Oklahoma Arts Council and National Endowment for the Arts. Topics change each session and parents are welcome to participate with their children.
