Fall festival slated Tuesday

The 4-H Fall Festival will be 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at First Christian Church in Lamont. There will be speech and baking competitions. The baking contest will be with apples.

Janise Blanton was crowned Deer Creek-Lamont homecoming queen and Eli Reese was chosen as king during the annual homecoming football game Oct. 10. The junior class were Spirit Stick winners.

The PTO Carnival will be 7-9 p.m. Oct. 23 at the old gym in Lamont. There will be a meal of chili with all of the fixings.

Fifth- and sixth-grade basketball will tip off the season against Kildare at Deer Creek at 5 p.m. Oct. 30. The teams then will have a Medford Play Day Festival Nov. 1, with time to be announced.

Last week’s article omitted Camille Krehbiel as a member of the DCLA Lady Eagles basketball team.

DCLA cross country team competed in a meet Saturday at Chisholm High School. DCLA girls’ results were: Janise Blanton, 15th; Lindsey Campbell, 22nd; Carly Metcalf, 26th; Rachel Kirby, 38th; Holly Shelton, 100th; Morgan Thompson, 104th; Jill Hobbs, 118th; Kelsy Casey, 119th; and Samantha Golay, 120th. On the boys’ side, Jacob Blanton placed 24th. Junior high girls’ results were: Jessica Blanton, 8th; Marian Muegge, 12th; Katherine Muegge, 19th; Ariel Warrior, 30th; Bennett Shipley, 24th; Karen Golay, 52nd; Shelby McKee, 55th; Cansas Swaggart, 60th; Connie Shelton, 62nd; Caroline Muegge, 66th; Haley Stacy, 68th; and Katy Starr 65th. Lawson Thompson placed ninth in the junior high boys competition.

Lamont Lions Club is sponsoring a meet-the-candidate forum at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Lamont United Methodist Church. Candidates for sheriff and county commissioner will be on hand.
