County investigating burglaries

Garfield County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a pair of burglaries that occurred last week.

The sheriff’s office res-ponded to a report of a burglary at about 11 p.m. Oct. 7 in the 13000 block of West Sumner.

Deputies spoke with a man who said he had seen a red Z-71 Chevy pickup driving in the area at night with no lights. The truck did not have a tag but is described as a 1999 to 2009 Chevrolet Z-71 with custom wheels and a dent on the right back bumper.

The man who reported the burglary reported seeing flashlights inside the residence and went back to his home to call law enforcement and the home’s owner. When he returned, the pickup was leaving the residence, and the man followed the pickup to Major County, where he stopped because he was running out of gas.

Deputies noted a broken glass door was used to gain entry.

The sheriff’s office also is investigating the theft of more than $1,000 of horse tack and saddles from North Enid.

Deputies responded to a report of a burglary Oct. 11 in the 7900 block of East Flynn.

A man told deputies he arrived at his property about 9 p.m. and noticed a gate was down leading to the area where he keeps his horses and a bus he uses for storage.

When the man checked the bus, he found his saddle was missing, along with his horse tack and saddle blankets. According to reports, the value of the missing items is $1,975.

The man said he was last at the property about 9 p.m. Oct. 10.
