PTO collecting labels for new equipment

PTO is collecting Nestlé Pure Life product labels to get some new P.E. equipment for the elementary. Please save the labels and drop them off at the elementary or high school, send them to school with your children, take them to the G & S General Store in Lamont or contact Casey Hoemann at 382-1700. You will be making a big difference for kids in your area.

PTO is having a carnival 6 to 8 p.m Oct. 23 in the old gym in Lamont. There also will be a chili dinner with all of the fixings.

Homecoming is Friday. Crown bearer is Dawson Silks and the flower girl is Heather Stouffer. There will be a pep assembly at 2:15 p.m. with coronation at 6:30. The game against Seiling begins at 7:30. Along with celebrating spirit week, each class entered a spirit stick contest. The winner will be announced at the pep assembly. Ag Boosters are putting on a meal before the homecoming festivities, from 5 to 6:45 p.m.

DCLA FFA Boosters are raffling off two quarters of beef. Tickets are $5 a chance with all processing paid for. Contact any FFA officer to buy tickets. Deadline is Friday. The beef will be ready around Christmas.

The Lady Eagles have a total of 11 girls out for basketball. This total includes 2 returning starters, senior Janise Blanton and junior Jill Hobbs. Sophomores Carly Metcalf, Morgan Thompson, Courtney Kirby, Samantha Golay and Rachel Kirby have been working hard in the off-season. Lindsey Campbell, Kelsy Casey and Holly Shelton bring the team full circle as freshmen. The Lady Eagles will be scrimmaging in October and November. The first game will be Dec. 2 against Covington-Douglas.

The DCLA cross country team will be ending its regular season on Saturday at Chisholm. The runners will be trying to qualify for state Oct. 13 during the regional meet.

Christ’s Church in Deer Creek is having a Garage Sale of Love on Oct. 25. Bring items for the sale by Oct. 22. Everything at the sale is free.

Song and Praise Worship Service is every 7 - 8 p.m. Sunday, and Bible study and classes for kids are 7-8 p.m. Wednesday.

Delphinus School of Ecology announces the opening of a library in Lamont. The library will be located in the blond-brick building,120 N. Main. Fundraising has begun, and memberships are available. The library will open when $10,000 has been raised.

Coffee, soft drinks, water and pre-packaged snacks will be available for purchase. There also will be other things going on. An organizational meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. Saturday in the Lamont Senior Citizens Community Center. A moon observation star party will follow the meeting.
