Booster club has openings on banner for sponsorship

The Hillsdale Booster Club has purchased “Welcome to Hillsdale” banners that are displayed along Main Street. There are 15 remaining openings for sponsorship. Families may have their names put on one side of a banner at a cost of $100. Please contact Jeff Hoffsommer for more information.

The Hillsdale Christian School students were treated to a “Silly Soaker Party” on Sept. 4 for collecting more than 2,000 BoxTops for education over the summer.

Ninety-two grandparents were present at Hillsdale Christian School on Sept. 18 for Grandparent’s Day. Each class performed for the grandparents. The students and their grandparents enjoyed breakfast, lunch and visiting the book fair together.

Amy Voth’s Hillsdale Christian School kindergarten class visited the Pond Creek Veterinary Clinic on Sept. 21. They have been studying community helpers and Dr. Stephanie Slaving gave the nine students a tour of the clinic. The class has visited Hillsdale Bible Church and walked to the Hillsdale Post Office as part of their study.

Bobby Tennell’s sixth-grade class at Hillsdale Christian School presented a chapel program on Wednesday. Salutes to the flags and Bible were led by Braden White, Jenna Thomason and Colby Nelson. Opening prayer was given by Bryce Mendenhall. The 13 students performed a skit showing how we should put our hope in God and not in a person. Class members are Micanah Arnold, April Burchfiel, Travis Hamm, Kendan Koehn, Jesse Long, Keeley McCullough, Bryce Mendenhall, Colby Nelson, Camden Roggow, Hope Shreve, Jenna Thomason, Braden White and Dean White.

Gretchen Streck’s Hillsdale Christian School second graders took a tour of all the facilities at Hope Outreach on Sept. 24. They collected items beginning with the letter S to take with them to the Homeless Day Center.

The Hillsdale Christian School gym will be dedicated to James Hoffsommer today from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend the ceremony, which will begin at 2:30 p.m. with refreshments and fellowship to follow.

A benefit sporting clay shoot will be held Saturday at Brian Whitson’s farm located south of Hillsdale. Lunch will be served at noon and shooting begins at 1 p.m. Cost is $40 per entry for 18 years and older and $20 per entry for ages 10-17. Those under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult and present a hunter safety course card. All proceeds will benefit Hillsdale Christian School. For entry or sponsorship information, contact Lindi Kelly, HCS principal, or Melanie Gray, HCS Director of Development at 635-2211.
