Local columnist debuts on today's opinion page

Enid News & Eagle welcomes a new local columnist, Diane Peck, to our mix with her debut column today.

Peck describes herself as a mother and grandmother who has lived in Enid for 33 years. She and her husband, Steve, both have worked for Enid Public Schools for over 20 years. They have four grown sons.

An avid writer who has kept journals since childhood, her forte is quick, short pieces of social commentary “just for fun,” she said.

“My job, my family, my love of unusual news and great interest in the general circumstances of the common man keep me fueled with writing ideas,” she said. “I am honored to be able to share some of my insights, reflections and commentary.”

Cindy Allen, managing editor, said Peck seems to reflect that attitude of what it’s like to live, work and play in a community.

“I was immediately taken in by her quick style, a way she has of capturing common thoughts and ideas,” Allen said. “And, her writing is positive and upbeat. I think readers will enjoy Diane’s perspective.”

Peck’s column will appear Thursday’s on the News & Eagle opinion page.
