Loyal man dies in crash

A 70-year-old Loyal man is dead after a single vehicle crash about 6:45 p.m. Friday three miles east and a half mile north of Loyal in Kingfisher County.

According to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report, Johnny Marvin Curtis was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Curtis was northbound on a county dirt road when he drove of the east side of the road for 38 feet, striking a guardrail and rolling off a bridge, according to an OHP report. Curtis’ vehicle dropped 12 feet and rolled one time, coming to rest on its wheels in the creek bed.

According to the report, Curtis was not wearing his seat belt and his condition is listed as “apparently normal.” The road condition was listed as wet in the report.

The accident was investigated by Trooper Mark Williams of the Kingfisher County detachment and was assisted by Lt. Don Hennessy, Loyal Fire De-partment and Kingfisher Fire Department, ambulance service and sheriff’s office.
