Oklahoma School of Science and Math soon will have regional site homes in two more cities.
Northwest Technology Cen-ter, with campuses in Alva and Fairview, will be the home to OSSM sites beginning in fall 2009.
“We are thrilled about this opportunity for students throughout northwest Okla-homa to pursue this high-level curriculum,” said Freelin Roberts, Northwest Technology Center superintendent.
OSSM is a school that teaches high school students and emphasizes advanced-level mathematics and science courses. Alva and Fairview will become homes to the 18th and 19th regional sites for OSSM. Autry Technology Center in Enid also is a regional site.
Aside from the regional sites, OSSM has a residential campus in Oklahoma City.
“Both Alva and Fairview OSSM campuses will have staff members to teach the high level math and science curriculum,” said Gerald Harris, Northwest Technology Center assistant superintendent, Fairview campus.
OSSM’s regional site students attend their regular high schools part of the day and attend OSSM for part of the day.
Applications will be taken from Jan-uary through April 2009 for students interested in attending OSSM.
Semifinalists from the ap-plication process will be asked back for an interview. Names of those accepted will be announced in late April.
