Electronic marquee added to high school

The 2008-09 school year for Ringwood High School started Aug. 13.

The morning was filled with class meetings, discussions and class officer elections. New coaches, teacher, and students also were met and introduced.

An electronic scrolling marquee has been added at the front of the high school. Through many donations from local businesses and organizations, Ringwood High School Student Council was able to raise $17,000 to pay for the cost of the new marquee. It can now be used to upcoming school and community events alike.

The new school year also brings along with it the annual Ringwood Watermelon Fair. On Monday, there will be a bingo night at 7 p.m. in the fair building on Maine. On Tuesday, the teeny tot, Miss Cinderella, Miss Watermelon and Miss Ringwood pageants will be held in the new gym beginning at 6:30 p.m.

The ministerial alliance will hold a Family Fun Night in the high school parking lot at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 27. The local stock show at the ag farm will be 6 p.m. Aug. 28.

Fair entries are due 8:30 a.m. to noon Aug. 29 in the fair building, and the carnival uptown will start at 1 p.m. with booths, food, music and family fun.

Watermelon Fair week will be capped off with a watermelon parade starting at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 30 on Maine. A junior class dinner will be held after the parade in the school cafeteria beginning at 11 a.m.

The high school football team will have its first scrimmage of the season Friday at Waynoka.
