Auction to raise money for K-H Academic Enrichment Foundation

By Bridget Nash Staff Writer

Everyone is invited to the Kremlin-Hillsdale Academic Enrichment Foundation auction and ice cream social 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Kremlin-Hillsdale school.

“It’s really cool,” said Connie Bittle, board member. “The whole community just comes together.”

The event consists of a homemade ice cream social (plus some extra desserts), a silent auction and a live auction of donated items.

“Our community members and citizens have really come together,” said Mike Riddle, Kremlin-Hillsdale Academic Enrichment Foun-dation president.

The foundation has been in existence since 2002 and has raised more than $160,000 since its inception.

With two fundraisers each year, the foundation puts half of the money raised into teacher grants for classroom education. Each year the foundation has put more than $10,000 back into Kremlin-Hillsdale’s classroom through grants.

The other half of the money raised goes into a permanent endowment.

“That way you’re actually building for the future,” said Tracy Bittle.

This year’s auction will include event tickets, jewelry, art, gift certificates, gift baskets, a new guitar, sports memorabilia, Kremlin-Hillsdale school mascot items, a homemade quilt and signed Toby Keith items. Donations of items will continue until the day of the auction.

And, of course, there is the homemade ice cream.

“The homemade ice cream is a big deal,” said Bittle.

Anyone who would like to donate an item to the auction may call (580) 747-6228 or (580) 874-2314.
