Printed surveillance photo key to arrest, police report

By Cass Rains, Staff Writer

Enid police arrested a man Tuesday morning suspected of credit card fraud after allegedly making purchases with stolen credit cards at several Enid businesses .

William Troy Huckabee, 35, was arrested at 10 a.m.

“As soon as the story and photo came out in the Enid News & Eagle, the public started calling with information,” said Capt. Dean Grassino said.

The News & Eagle printed a story and surveillance photo of the suspect in its Tuesday edition.

Grassino said by 9:30 a.m. Tuesday the department had received about 10 calls, most of which identified Huckabee as the person in the surveillance photo from OnCue Express.

“We really want to thank the public for their assistance on this case,” Grassino said.

Detectives went to the 700 block of North 2nd and arrested Huckabee for an outstanding felony warrant for burglary. Detectives interviewed Huckabee at the police department, and at the conclusion of the interview he was arrested on complaints of possession of a credit card belonging to another, unauthorized use of a credit card and knowingly concealing stolen property.

Detectives also served a search warrant at Huckabee’s residence and located merchandise purchased with the stolen credit card, tying Huckabee with its fraudulent use, Grassino said.

The investigation is continuing and more ar-rests are likely, Grassino said. Police are investigating if there was an accomplice.

Officials believe Huck-abee broke into a vehicle Thursday and took a satchel containing credit cards, the owner’s driver’s license, checkbooks and other items, Grassino said.

One of the stolen credit cards was used at OnCue Express, 1623 S. Van Buren, the same day as the burglary.

Police released photographs from the store showing the suspects using the card to purchase two cartons of cigarettes.

Huckabee has an arrest record dating back to 1997.

The felony burglary warrant that resulted in Huckabee’s arrest stemmed from a vehicle burglary in April.
