A 19-year-old Drummond man was killed Wednesday morning west of Orienta when his pickup crossed the center line of U.S. 412 and hit an oncoming semi head-on, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.
Stephan Tyler Hoeltzel Spady died at the scene of the 8:42 a.m. accident in Major County eight miles west of Orienta, the patrol reported. His body was taken to Fairview Funeral Home.
According to the report, Spady was eastbound on U.S. 412 in a 2003 Chevrolet pickup when he drifted across the center line and struck a 2004 Mack tractor-trailer driven by Ro-lando Trejo, who was westbound.
Trejo, 34, of Ringwood, was taken to Integris Bass Baptist Health Center by Major County EMS with head and leg injuries and was admitted in good condition.
According to the report, Spady was wearing a seat belt but Trejo was not. The report lists Spady’s condition as unknown and the cause of the crash as driving left of center.
Troopers rerouted traffic as the accident was investigated.
