Saturday afternoon storm brings heavy rainfall, no damage

Despite the fact the skies opened up over the Breckinridge area east of Enid Saturday afternoon, no major damage was caused from storms that moved through the area.

The Mesonet weather reporting site at Breckinridge recorded 3.10 inches of rain Saturday afternoon.

“That’s a lot of water they had in an hour and a half,” said Mike Honigsberg, Garfield County and Enid Emergency Management director.

Honigsberg said he received no reports of any damage or flooding. He said there probably was some water over the roadways in the county and residents should use caution.

National Weather Service had listed portions of Garfield, Grant, Kay and Noble counties in a flooding warning Saturday evening.

Other rainfall amounts in the area were 1.10 inches at Lahoma’s Mesonet site, 1.14 inches at Fairview, .33 inches in Grant County and .08 inches in Alfalfa County.

Today’s forecast calls for rain to give way to partly cloudy skies, according to the National Weather Service.

Electric outages from the storm were reported, but OG&E Electric Services had no outages showing in the area later that night.
